When a crystal orb
Sapphire or Amber
welds oil and water
Some would celebrate the diplomacy of the immiscible
Hydrogen bonds don’t break in front of the hydrophobic
They invite, envelope, elope in the inescapable
This is a testament to our passions, our pains, the agony and ecstasy that is human… being
It’s hot and sopping, pouring and pouring
A salve for a wound, a lubricant to keep the body healing.
A proud patch displayed, the honor overflowing.
Some would quiet the exhibit, if only possible
Criticize that display that is so shameful
of Aqueous, and Oily, and Mucous layers
But who could stop these diamond drops that are electrostatically charged?
They were born from the body’s atomic storm
at first spitting, spiraling, jumping orbit
then sodium chloride quartz cascading
into sucrose petal ponds overflooding
Dribbles and drips from the peak slowing
and dry
and
die
on baked cracked clay, a salty crumb dusting
Glacier tracks run south, but never receding.
Every string of stained skin begets
the next canvas sewn, revealing,
A heavy drop for lost love
ocean grey
with stinging
spray
Impasto caps for achievement
smoking
cool blue
and icey
Just a drip for faraway friendships
warm
dark
brown
sugar bourbon
A bead for the working brow
jet black lead
slick mercury
Some would say be careful as you
mix these hydrocarbons
oily vapors burn brackish poisons
But this is a testament to our creations
of form and flesh
It’s dewed and viscous, wet and thirsty
A sprinkle from pain yields the humble body
A misty pocket of lust under the steamy willow tree
They are all born
of each beautiful being’s
human chemistry.
